I have a 20mm slate hearth in 2 pieces to fit and was wondering what adhesive and grout to use. I have some ardex x7 in white, would this be ok as adhesive?
What size expansion gap would you leave between the front and back piece?
Thanks all[/list]

Thanks, I used Ardex xg7 plus in grey to fit the slate and have Ardex black flexible grout for the grouting...
They wanted £30 + for some slate sealer but I found online that I could use a mix of boiled linseed oil and turps, I have done 2 coats and it has a slight sheen to it and really easy to apply. Wipe it on thinly and then buff off a few mins later.
Just need to find a man to fit the chimney liner!
