Hi all

Just a quick question,

I need to fix a couple 2.4m sleepers to a wall which is made of concrete blocks. It will basically only be used as a 'shelf' but needs to be very secure and then there will be a second row of sleepers which will bedded below as a step down onto grass.

What is the best way to fix the sleepers?

I had considered coach bolts but have seen these http://www.screwfix.com/p/easydrive-countersunk-concrete-screws-7-5-x-150mm-100-pack/7465h

Apologies if my explanation of use is not well worded but I just want to know what fixing would be appropriate for a 100x125x2400 sleeper

Be warned you need something meaty to drive them in. An impact driver or sds drill are best. You can use a socket set I you've not too many to do.

Excellent, thanks, I have both.

Am I right in thinking that it is best to pre drill the holes using a slightly smaller diameter drill bit first?

Most conc screws I have used take a 6.5mm pilot hole. Into block or mortar this will be perfect. Into hard brick a 7 can sometimes be better.
