Smeg Dishwasher...Salt light stays on

Hi..first post on this forum.

We have a Smeg DF612 SDX7 dishwasher...it is just over a year old.
It gets used approx once a day...and is as clean as the day we bought it.
A few days ago the salt warning light came on. The salt container was topped up at the next opportunity.
On the next wash everything was covered in salt, and had to be re-washed.
The salt light continued to stay on over the next few wash cycles, even though we have topped it up again.
The dishwasher operates fine now, and washes without fault....it's just that the salt light continues to stay on.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Problem now solved .... we have ran it through a cycle with a de-scaling additive. The light has now gone out, and all is back to normal now...
Funnily enough there was no sign off scale being present whatsoever..!
