We have a relatively new house, built around 2002, we are second occupier.
It had two smoke alarms (one in hall and one on landing) both with mains feeds and apprantly interconnected - but they never went off together.
Due to numerous false alarms (opening the oven door on the grill would set off the one in the hall ane we got fed up with putting batteries in the one on the landing) these have been removed.
Am now decorating the hall and the ideal option would be to fit a combined PIR and smoke alarm (one was fitted in our last house) which would set off the burglar alarm if it went off. Problem is that they do not seem to be available and web searches indicate that to comply with building regs we need mains powered, linked alarms in hall and landing.
Is this correct and are there any recommendations on what I should fit?
We are a low risk household as no-one smokes.
