My house has professionally-fitted smoke detectors attached to the Intruder alarm.

I recently bought a Flixonase/Lloyds Chemist ionising Air Purifier; it has a circulating fan, a dust filter on the intake and an ionising element on the outlet.

Today the landing smoke detector kept setting off the alarm.

At first I thought it might be steam from the bathroom, but the exrtractor was running and it was not visibly steamy. Then I remembered the air purifier was running in a bedroom close to the detector.

Could the ioniser be affecting the detector?

it's not near the kitchen, and there was no cooking/toast/kettle in use

Sorry I realise that , what I meant was would an ionising air treatment in proximity to an ionization smoke detector be a problem?
