We are fitting a sliding door as space saver between kitchen and adjacent lounge/ dining area. Any regulations about preventing smoke leaking from kitchens (in case of fire)? Does the door have to latch or provide a good seal?

Missus has already pointed out the increasing number of open plan kitchens nowadays. Maybe it's only the nuisance value of cooking smells and washing machine spin cycle noise to eliminate?

as far as i know there is no regulation about having fire doors etc in a domestic (standard house)my own kitchen would be what you call open plan.
