Hi all just after some advise, I may be getting a conservatory fitted and my soil pipe runs up where the conservatory is going on the back wall, I've been told I can cut this low level and fit a durgo? But there needs to be a vent off this, is it basically teeing into this soil and routing up the gable end of my house, and what are the reasons for fitting this vent? Many thanks for any answers

The durgo is fitted which changes the soil vent stack into a stub stack, the durgo is only designed for internal instalation and will let air into to stack to prevent suction ( induced syphonage) sucking water out of any trap connected to it, the open vent to outside air will release any positive pressure build up in the soil system .Its better to have a vent to outside even if only reduced to 50mm waste pipe .

Hi bab, thanks for reply, so will it be ok to box this stub stack in with the durgo on? And is the vent usually the same diameter of the soil pipe?

It can be boxed in but a small vent in box is best . on top where not seen is fine so ii can be pulled in if required, vent is normal 110mm like stack but reduced down to 50mm waste pipe will do

Iv taken the vent off waste pipes under bathroom floor and up a cupboard into attic and through gable or roof before now in waste pipe just to get a vent to outside , If you dont shower wastes often suffer and let smells out
