Is it common for soil vent pipes to make noise when the sun hits it Have one internal to the front of the house and one external to the back of the house. When the sun rises in the morning, there's no need for an alarm clock as it (internal) sounds like the whole thing is cracking very loudly. The same happens late afternoon when the sun hits the external pipe on the back wall. Although made of plastic it sounds like wood cracking really loudly but it's definitely the pipes warming up. How long does this last if they are new.

For ever. uPVC coefficient of thermal expansion is 0.06-0.08mm/deg/m so a 6m soil stack over say 15 degrees rise in temp expands 6 x 0.07 x 15 = 6.3mm - it's no wonder they creak a bit as they warm up.

As above, but a little silicone spray around any brackets may help to avoid noises from stiction!
Out of curiosity, is your outside stack black, or grey?

Mine internal one did the same when going from hot to cold water down it. I lubricated all the brackets and where it was tight between the joists I slid in paper and sprayed with lubricating oil... Has not clicked for a few years now! I always thought it was a water leak as it sounded like dripping water...

Technically should be installed with expansion gaps in each joint, but most installers never bother. Terrain used to make a conversion kit for their Solvent Weld fittings to provide a Ring Seal joint and thus allow movement in the pipework.
