I wondered if anybody could advise on an issue i have with a Solar 96E boiler. ( combi )
Last week, the boiler failed to kick in and i narrowed it down to a burnt out relay on the PCB.
I purchased a reconditioned PCB, and my boiler engineer fitted it.
At first glance, all looked great.
However, the following day we noticed that once it got to temperature, it was tripping off to cool down, but then re-firing immediately. Obviously the water was already at temperate ( and this happens if i set the temperate to 40, 60 90 degrees ) so it trips off again after 30 seconds, waits 10 seconds and then starts again. This process is ongoing, so something isnt right.
I had my boiler engineer back this morning, who checked the pump / sensors etc and felt it was the PCB.
This also happens with the hot water as well. The Hot water and Heating both have their own temperature sensors, so the fact that it is cycling on both of these, makes me think it isn't a sensor issue.
I then called ICI ( manufacturer ) who referred me to another company who are experts on their boilers. They advised me that the Anti Cycle valve was probably set to the lowest cycle and could be adjusted, which would solve the issue.
I have tried this, (turned clockwise ) but its increased the Anticycle from 10 ( center position ) seconds to 40 seconds. If i turn it Anticlockwise, the boiler kicks in immediately.
I spoke to the company who supplied the reconditioned PCB, but they are blaming other parts and say all their PCBS are tested etc, so its not a case of just getting them to swap it.
So now im in a position where the boiler engineer is blaming the PCB, and the recondition company are blaming other parts.
Can any experts out there advise on this ?
Could it be a faulty resistor on the PCB, that although working to an extent, is reducing the anticcyle time to seconds rather than minutes ?
