Hi All,

About half the radiators in my house have the TRVs fitted to the return pipe instead of the flow pipe. At the moment, the system is fairly well balanced, but when we adjust some of the TRVs it puts the system out.

I know a lot of people say that it doesn't matter which side the TRVs and LSVs are fitted, but if that is the case, why does the balance of the system get affected so much when we adjust the TRVs?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

The balance of the system will be affected just as much whatever end the TRV's are fitted to, as when they close the rad is off, so the water misses out this rad altogether.

As long as the TRV's are bi-directional, it doesn't matter which end they are on ;)
