hey guys just clear this one up for me please!!!

i live in flats and the rear outside light has stopped workin, i went to wholesalers and asked for a 70 w son lamp?? but it didint work even though i measured electricity at the bulb holder???

after some investigation am i right in thinking what i may need is a son E lamp but with an internal igitor?

the one not working has an E in a triangle on it??? is that external?

cheers ;)

No, elliptical.
Look for an I in a triangle, that's with an internal ignitor.

No. gaz.

E in a triangle is EXTERNAL ignitor, I in a triangle is INTERNAL.

Why would they print on the lamp if it was eliptical or tubular - I reckon even the most dumbest of sparks can tell the shape of the lamp!

Ahh, sorry. Mixed up with Son-E being elliptical (minus a triangle!).
I knew an I in a triangle was an internal ignitor.
Now where's the triangle with the T in? :D

You need a 70 W SON E/I Lamp either that or add a suitable ignitor to the gear and use a normal SON lamp.

I wouldn't recommend trying to measure the voltage at the lampholder with with an external ignitor version (the one where the ignitor is in the fitting)!!!
