sound proofing

Hi all I need to insulate a 4" waste pipe from upstairs that travels through my kitchen for sound....had enough of hearing people dump!!

any thoughts < products ..limited space so cant build thick walls

Use fibreglass or rockwool 'wadding' around the pipe and use a dense plasterboard for the soundproofing - preferably more than one layer if you have the room.

There are proprietary sound abating plaster boards on the market or use fire boards etc.

The greater the mass/density the better the soundproofing. Sound proof rooms are lined with lead.
 
wow dont think i can stretch to lead, thanks for your advice will go for wrapping and a couple of boards possibly the fire ones
