Two basic methods.
A) Use something to reduce voltage spikes.
B) Use lamps not affected by voltage spikes.

For A either used extra low voltage lamps with inverters which will stabilise voltage. Or use dimmer switch which tend to reduce spikes.
For B either LED or Cold Cathode lamps

Seems odd you are listed as Clwyd thought that went in 1994?

What brand lamps are you using? It does affect the life ;)

And if using good brand doesn't help, the fittings may have faulty lamp contacts.

By the way, law of probability states that if you have 12 lamps, you'll need to change the lamps 12 times as often as if you only had one. Many people dont realise this.

How big's your kitchen? What wattage are the lamps?

If they are 50 watts, thats 600 watts of light in your kichen. I use less than that to light my whole garden!
