Hi guys. Lath and plaster wall. Old plaster has been removed and wall has just been replastered. Is it ok to hang a big double panel rad with three brackets on spring toggle. i told the plasterer to add some noggins when he removed the old plaster but he did not do it. He said that it was ok to use spring toggles as the plaster was new and not old and crumbling and that the rad was going to be supported by six spring toggles anyway so the weight of the rad would be nicely spread out and anyway the rad had been hung using spring toggles when we removed it from the wall. Do you think it is safe to use them with such a big rad? Thanks for your time.

Pretty heavy. Consider it's got three brackets and not two. Having said that, it was hung that way though. Is it ok like that or am i just overreacting?

You should be fine but if I ad asked the plasterer to do something and he didnt then i would just cut the walls and add ply to spread the weight and he would have to make good

It all comes down to how much faith you have , think you will be ok

Ask the plasterer to guarantee it will hold up, and use the widest toggles you can get. It might be worth drilling a third hole into the brackets to be sure.

i've been to too many big rads hung on toggles. noggins are the only way to guarantee the rad wont fall off. i wont do it any other way, none of mine have ever fell off, but plenty of others have.......
