Hello,

I have just moved into a new flat and have a small integrated fridge freezer without enough space for me! To overcome this I want to put a small chest freezer in the large broom closet we have.

However there is no plug socket in there! There is however a spur ( i think) it looks like this : http://www.tradingdepot.co.uk/DEF/product/!!K337WHI!!/

My question is, can I retain the spur ( as im sure its probably needed for something) and put in a single socket in the same place, like a combined spur/socket ?

Many thanks for any advice in advanced !

Before we can advise on what you can and can't do we really need to know more about the current situation.

With the power off please remove the fused connection unit from the wall (with the power off of course) and tell us how many cables you see and what terminals they are connected to. Don't disconnect anything at this point just tell us what you find.

I woud firstly find out if it is used for anything by checking for power and any connections made on the 'load' terminals. Also check what circuit it is on and if it is switched from any other position such as a double pole isolator in a convenient location controlling a water heater. After further investigation and if the correct criteria is met then it sounds feasible and if I'm correct should only need a minor works certificate.
