Ive just put a 4 inch extractor in the kitchen ..its sited about 2ft from a double socket...Can i spur off the socket to a switch and then to the extractor..?
The socket is permanently switched on for the spark for the gas cooker...i just wanted a switch for the fan...
Can i use a normal single light switch for this ?

Cheers Gavin

hi gavin, yes you can spur off the ring (sockets) to supply a fan but there are some limitations, first you must be part p qualified if the fan is in the kitchen this is classed as a special location then make sure that the socket you wish to use is not a spur itself, then you must put a switched fused spur rated at around 5 amp or what ever is specified in the manual.
a bit of a tricky job unless you know what you are doing.
good luck gavin.
