Steel H cowl fitting query??

Hi!

I need to fit a anti down-draught mild steel H cowl to my exiting clay chimney pot.

The internal diameter is 8.5". The cowl I am purchasing is 8". Do I secure it with silicone, sand and cement?? Any ideas??

They tend to be fitted with some sort of large jubilee clip or similar. The pot needs to be soundly fixed though

Or they are connect to the flue with a sleeve

I'd be wary of anything made of mild steel though

I've seen in some other 'Stainless steel' H cowl sales they come with jubilee clips since posting.

How long would you give the mild steel against the elements??

It has a return within 14 day trial, just want to get something to work. I've tried a UFO cowl and Colt Roto... Turbomaster without success..
