stirling locking out.

25 year old myson shell 70/90 with stirling burner which is 10 years old.
customer called me out as no heat.control stat was faulty so replaced and tested all fine.
a week has now passed and it seems every 48hrs the boiler goes to l/out.
oil sample clean.
no wear at drive.
pump pressure 115ish psi
new 65-80s jet
photocell new,
its making all the correct noises ignition,solenoid,pump and motor etc (oftec dont teach ya that ****)
anyway any ideas?
plenty of oil flow.kbb checked.strong clean flame.conventional flu clear.

Is this a case sealed balance flue Myson. If so, check the flue joint for soundness. It is pretty impossible to repair if it does leak, but after 25 years, it hasn't done so bad. Also check the transformer. If the burner has been recycling, it may be weak and failing occasionally.
By the way, OFTEC don't teach any s**t. They assess you on the knowledge you have gained through years of experience, or through structured industry training.

The motor capacitor + oil solenoid are often the cause of seemingly random lockouts, if the oil supply is good and the other items check out OK.

It's a shame then that OHECK don't ask for varification of training and/or experience before taking££££'s and giving you a OFT101/102 or OFT 105e

All training companies take advantage of the opportunity to part hopeful and sometimes desparate, people from their money.
Until the accreditation agencies take responsibility for their certification, then the situation will not change. Apart from the individuals who are unleashed to their respective trades, feel sorry for the consumers who mistakenly rely upon the qualifications they are told to look for.
