Stop cock repair

Hi all,

Any ideas whether I can get parts to fix this stop cock from anywhere? Basically I need the head. House was built in the 1970s.

I turned it off to do some plumbing and it seized shut. Tried taking it out but it is in such an awkward place, managed to get the nuts undone but there is no slack in the pipes. Instead I took the two section out and in the garage managed to get it to do a quarter of a turn. No amount of backs and forwards movement would free it off so I took the washer assembly out and out it back together so we can have water over the bank holiday weekend.

I need to change the stopcock on my workshop - it seems to have fallen apart inside but because it’s boxed in, it’ll be a major job to replace the whole thing. I can get to the main part of it though - see pictures. Could I just change the centre part over from the new stopcock? I need to either...

I bought a new tap (complete), unscrewed the centre and fitted it to the old tap. You can see the remains at the end - new body, old internals.

I think your existing stopcock is a Pegler/Prestex brand (could be wrong though!). Toolstation have a Pegler 15mm stopcock listed (item 55154). I would think there's a good chance that will be a direct replacement for the headgear. £10.68

Stop taps in the 70s were manufactured to BS 1010
So any stop tap manufactured to that standard will do.

I believe it is a Prestex 69 but the length is more like 90mm rather than the 75mm this appears to be

Got any mates with garage tools a 19mm deep socket an extension bar in 3/4 and a ratchet. handle of first good luck

Strip what you have
Silicon grease
Never had to replace as these come apart and are serviceable
