It's metal metal and hollow and the whole thing plastered. I couldn't get the self drilling self tappers in and kept slipping. Would it have been easier drilling into metal with a metal bit first then putting screws into the already made hole? Rather using self drilling self tappers?
Simple answer would be yes, change your drill bit to a HSS twist bit to get through the steel. It should have been closer to the wall so you could then put a securing plug and screw into the side wall. As it is, the blind will be a little short on the width and allow early morning light to come through. If it's a 'blackout' blind your fixings will defeat the whole object of them.
