Hi everyone,
I'm looking to buy a stud finder as I'm helping my son with his new home putting pictures up on the wall , looking at different ones In b&q and wickes but the reviews are not the best , can anyone recommend a reasonably priced one that does a good job.
Suggest you consider using a very, I mean very bright light???
To locate studs on a Plasterboard wall I prefer to use a torch???
What I do is to hold a torch flat against a wall and move the beam up and down and if the beam is bright enough then you should see filled nails and the slight differences between normal skim and the skim over a joint?
To confirm your findings, get a hold of a strong magnet???
Why? because if you pass a magnet over a plasterboard surface the nails or screws will "hold" the magnet, hey presto a positive location of the studs.
Simpler than the Phaff of an all singing all dancing stud detector, and I think more accurate, in that you have a visual on your target rather than a variable sounding bleep?
