Stud wall for outside building

Hi,

What's the best way to make long stud walls?

I have a space for a building which I would like to have 4.5 m side walls, and I have a lot of timber to use which is only 3 m long.

Is it ill-advised to make a top plate for the stud wall from shorter pieces?

I was thinking of a double top plate with staggered joins.

No problem, you are only looking at one join with 3m timber.

Is this arrangement for a top plate considered strong enough when the wall has to bear the weight of the roofing?
