What is the best insulation to use in a loft stud wall that has been built in front of either party wall please?

Thanks.

Hello thanks for your reply,

Primarily for heat according to the LBC but I also want some degree of sound insulation with it.

Thanks.

The best in what terms? Looking, cost, easy to work with?

You are aiming for a certain u-value, and any insulation will achieve this in varying thicknesses.

It depends on what your criteria are - more cost thinner insulaltion, less cost thicker insulation.

Dense (ie Rockwool) is good for sound, as is using thicker or specialist plasterboard

my stud work is 3 by 2 so i have a 3inch gap to play with (oh ar missus)

but I need to leave a gap for wires etc so max 2inch thick

Dont want to spend a fortune and im only a diyer so it needs to be easy to work with I could do with not having to secure it in, can the boards be cut then squeezed in without fixing?
