In our utility room, the builders messed up and set the worktop height measured up from the concrete floor. Then the rest of the kitchen into the entrance to the utility room was tiled resulting in a 25mm step down from the tiles to the utility room floor.
If we build up the utility room floor to the same height as the tiles it won't be possible to get the washing machine and tumble dryer under the worktop. The previous owners just placed a horse hair mat on the floor which was horrid.
So we want to put a removable flooring such as vinyl or carpet tiles down on the utility concrete but need to solve the large step up to the tiles - possibly 20mm.
Alternatively, we could put some really think underlay down (15mm+) and then some carpet tiles on top but there will still be a transition to the tiles.
Ideas welcome please.
Oh and the concrete bit is about 1m by 1.5m.
