i want to fit a sure stop to the main stop tap . do i have to turn the water off at the mains outside, and any tips on the best way to fit it would be gratefully accepted thanks

make sure the pipe is 22mm, not 3/4", i am not too keen on fitting a plastic surestop onto 3/4" i think it will leak at some point, you might need a couple of 22mm compression fittings onto the old pipe with the surestop fitted onto 22mm copper
