Hi all,
What size earth wire would be used for connecting the armour of 2.5mm SWA to earth?

Regards.

Connecting the actual armour strands to earth as it is a plastic cu so terminating into a metal box with lock nut next to the cu and then taking the cores into the cu. Not sure which size earth wire to use to connect the armour to earth.

2.5mm² - the same as the live conductors would cover any earthing requirements.

However, 4mm² will be needed if running any distance mechanically unprotected.

That's what I thought but i can only seem to find 2.5mm earth in conduit singles.

You can't have tried very hard then. Every electrical wholesaler in the country will stock it.

Ok didn't realise you could use singles. Thanks all.

Most wholesalers wont cut 2.5mm , you may be better using a meter of 6mm, this will fit your earth terminal or can be used in a yellow crimp to lug on box/banjo.
100metres of 2.5 will cost well over a tenner
