Can anyone help please.

My neighbour is having problems with the hot water tap on his bath tub. When you open it a little the water comes out very hot but with very little pressure and can take almost an hour to fill the bath. When you open the tap fully it goes cold and the pressure increase but not alot.

Both the hot and cold feeds to the taps are done in 15mm copper. The sink in the bathroom doesnt have any problems like this neither does the kitchen sink.

He has a 15 - 18 year old combi boiler in the kitchen which is holding pressure fine and british gas have been to look at it and said it is working well.

Any ideas ????

Many thanks In advance!!!!

What you are describing is the natural way that a combi works. The slower the flow through the boiler the hotter the hot water gets. If he has high cold mains water pressure then I doubt that he will ever be able to turn the hot tap on full and get hot water.

If on the other hand you are trying to say that you think the tap is faulty in that it opens a little then goes straight to full pressure the the tap body needs to be removed and checked and possibly a new tap washer fitted ;)
