Tap tails, which is which

Fitting a new sink and one of the tap tails that came with it has a gauze filter fitted on the female end and the other does not, i presume the one with the filter is for cold?

Just wanted clarification?

That is a fair assumption! But are you sure there is not a filter missing from the pack.
