Taps loud whoosing after changing to quarter-turn using reviver kit

I recently replaced the glands and heads of two very old (20 years?) traditional sink basin taps using https://www.toolstation.com/lever-basin-tap-reviver-kit/p70902 - so they are now quarter-turn. However, they now make a loud whooshing/screeching noise - particularly on the cold side as it is mains pressure. The noise is unfortunately loudest at the amount of flow you would want to use - it's not too bad when completely or slightly open. I have tried altering the stopcock on the cold side in both directions and it makes a small difference, but I am constrained as the stopcock is shared with the washing machine and dishwasher. I was thinking it might be a case of poor quality glands, but the noise occurs (to differing extents) on both hot and cold, and the reviews on the toolstation page are very good - nobody else with this problem. Is there some reason you can't use these reviver kits to swap to quarter-turn; might I have to stick to traditional taps using https://www.toolstation.com/traditional-basin-tap-reviver-kit/p14064, or is it worth giving new glands such as https://www.toolstation.com/made4trade-14-turn-ceramic-tap-glands/p66307 (whichever size fits) a go? I prefer quarter-turn design if possible. Thanks
