Hi all
I have a Techflow QT120 (3.3 bar) twin ended pump supplying the following:
shower
bathroom basin
toilet
kitchen sink (hot only)
washing machine (hot only)
I followed the installation instructions to the letter and fitted an Essex flange to the cylinder, the bypass between the hot and cold outlets on the pump and set the HW cylinder stat. to 60 deg. The pump works well enough and the shower is amazing, it's just that it only lasts about 2-2 1/2 years and then leaks on the hot side of the pump. The first time it went, Techflow fixed it free of charge even though it was just out of warranty. A few days ago, approx. 2 years since the first rebuild, it started leaking again on the hot side. I took it over to Techflow and they've fixed it but this time it's costing me £160.
When I tried to discuss the reasons with Techflow they mentioned that I should fit non-return valves at the washing machine and toilet cistern as the pumps "don't like" these appliances as they shut off suddenly and put pressure on the seals. Their installation instructions don't mention this.
Just wondering if anyone has any similar experiences with Techflow pumps? Maybe I should have bought a Stuart Turner pump?
Thanks,
Anthony
