Channel 4 News reported that the documents showed $875 (£584) was paid out last year to the family of a nine-year-old girl shot in the head, and $950 (£634) was paid for the death of a 10-year-old boy.

In one case the Ministry of Defence also paid out $300 (£200) for a lost mobile phone, it said.

War is not free, it's paid for with the blood of innocents.

Freedom isn't free, it's paid for with the blood of patriots.

Those two statements are interchangeable.
Actually, neither of them make sense.

As long as there are wars, innocent civilians will be killed/ injured.
Human life or suffering doesn't half come cheap.
The soldiers receiving horrific injuries in Afghanistan receive poor compensation for their injuries, but compared to Afghan civilians,,,, well , seems very unfair to the civvies.

Just seems that women in industry/finance/ law, etc, can receive far more compensation for losing their job than a soldier can for losing his legs/ arms.

in monetary terms yes, but lets not forget that what's not a lot to us is a lot to them.. it's all relative to what they would usually earn..

if you work for a couple of quid a week, then £600 is a years wages..

again it's down to the relativity of it.
a soldier know going into it that there's a good chance of injury while doing his job.
a woman who's fired for getting pregnant didn't know that it was a possibility..

I'm not saying that a soldier should EXPECT to get injured, just that it's a strong possibility..

A woman having sex knows pregnancy's a possibility.

A woman having sex knows pregnancy's a possibility.

that's not an accurate analogy though..
that's like saying that a soldier knows that signing up stands a good chance of getting sent overseas..

the pregnancy isn't the unexpected part, it's getting fired for doing it..

What about that woman in the papers a couple of months ago, Who was claiming unfair dismissal or summat from the Army? She had signed up for 20yrs or so then applies for overseas postings and complains she can't look after her daughter or summat. She was claiming far more than any soldier would get for losing a leg etc.
please forgive the summat's. Alzheimers is setting in ;) ;) ;) ;)
