Since the original Rwanda plan has completely failed, there is a new wonderful scheme: the government will pay people to go to Rwanda

My guess is its so the Tories can have a picture of a plane taking off

although they still have to find an aviation company willing to do do it...apparently they arent terribly keen on the negative publicity

So far, it's cost more than £500 million to deport zero refugees.

If Sunak manages to deport two before the election, the racist media will trumpet it as a great victory.

Costing £250million per head.

Imagine how many pot holes you could fill in Devon or Exeter with that spaffing amount. You'd have to be a complete cycle-path not to.

Just think how many more miles of cycle path could've been built to help return this country to the green and pleasant land the Tories say they want us to all live in

My favourite factoid is sending more MPs to Rwanda than migrants. Are they in it for the air miles?

Should get in hester to 'advise' for economical reasons...

Only £10m (maybe £15m?) and you get to suggest the killing off of a 'pesky' MP...

PM Rishi Sunak says it will be approved by Parliament tonight "no matter how late it goes - no ifs, no buts"

Looks like it may be going through tonight. No payment required. Sleep tight. ;)

Yep. We're there. Just watching Yvette Cooper saying that if Labour got in at the next election, she says that Labour "Will not do the Rwanda scheme". She then wouldn’t answer if they would stop it and she went into parrot mode and just said "Labour will not do the Rwanda scheme". When asked a simple Yes or No as to whether they would actually and actively stop a plane from setting off, parrot mode again. I think they are running scared. Why is it so hard for politicians to say yes or no to a simple question? It’s like some on here!

Around 5 more deaths being reported this morning.

Regardless of anyone's views on this, it's nothing short of ludicrous that more hasn't been done over past months/years to stop this.

As usual in the UK these days, we debate, debate, debate a bit more, and meanwhile the issue trundles on.

Pathetic.

Send them all to Ukraine instead.

ah yes the good old "why hasnt anything been done" argument

I can tell you why

A = because there are millions of people who are displaced who are trying to escape war or persecution or simply awful living conditions

until you fix that it wont stop

fixing it would mean European governments actually having a grown up discussion and collaborate together to stop it -but they wont.

Rwanda scheme was created as a distraction it was never designed to work

it was designed to excite the fickos who support the Tories

clearly its working for them, fickos are duly excited

It is being said that the slowness and curious lack of urgency in pushing the bill forward

Is so that racists will vote Tory in the approaching election

And the law will have been in place for such a short period that its failure will not yet have become obvious to its supporters

Here's a random thought, what are the countries these folk are fleeing from doing to stop their citizens wanting to leave? (climate aside, different thing.)

We often hear from other countries that 'the west' should keep out of their affairs, however we've to accept their fleeing citizens with open arms? They can't have it both ways.
