unless he means the ones that you can change the direction of the valve without removing it from the rad/pipe.

the ones ive seen just turn the end where the trv head goes with your fingers.

cant mind who makes them now.

oh yeah

didnt drayton release them with a huge fanfare about three years ago?

so these two types of trvs can b fitted where you can not identify which pipe is the flow or return? ie no rads on the wall just 2 pipes from floor in each room so can not turn heating on to identify flow. thax :?:

in general yes....but the worst that happens is you need to turn it round if its wrong. doesnt always cause a problem with one direction valves anyway if they were on the wrong way.

so nick i could basically take a chance on each rad with just your normal trv? :?:

if you have some lying around and you are a gambling man then take a chance. :D

you will know if its wrong cos they start chattering when the valve is only slightly open.

so what in your great experience would you recommend in this situation?

well lets keep it simple then and buy bi-directional valves. you wont go much wrong then.

dont trust em

before you install them ensure that you know which end of the rad is the flow (really easy its the pipe that gets hot first) and install the TRV there

even the bi flows can rattle and hum on the return
