thermocouple test

pos probe of multi meter to the boiler earth and negative probe to the contact end of the tc ,but you need a steady hand

Crofty, next time you take an old working boiler out, strip the gas valve and keep the part that the TC screws into, then next time you go to a boiler with a suspect TC failure you can test it using your saved part using any of the millions of spare nuts from universal TC kits we all end up with.

ok but once i have got the spare part that tc screws into how do i use it can you explain what to do with spare part please
 
I am goint to take the happy pill soon- am getting depressed reading this thread.
