Thermostat/Motorised Valve Problem

I have a Potterton Neataheat boiler with SUNVIC digital thermostat, controller etc. The hot water works fine and the heating is permanently switched on and is controlled by the Thermostat. Recently the Thermostat clicks and shows it thinks the boiler is lit but nothing happens. If you switch the Thermostat on and off enough times eventually you hear the motorised valve turning and the boiler comes on.

It is a new Thermostat with new batteries.

Any thoughts would be really appreciated.

Check all your wiring and check the stat is working every time with a multimeter.

If this all checks out ok then I would suspect the valve head is playing up.

Dave,

Thanks, I will check the wiring, which has been fine until recently. The valve is fairly new and controller, thermostats, valve were all replaced at the same time. Would the wiring cause this intermittent fault?

Only if there was a loose connection somewhere.

Go for the stat and valve test first.

NEVER assume a part is working correctly because it is new/fairly new.
