Had a cold tank dry up, now fixed. But the boiler runs through a cycle of loud bangs, 4 quiet pops, total quiet then starts again over a 5 minute period. My guess is an airlock somewhere. Can anyone advise where I can bleed this from? Or is this a more fundamental i.e. expensive! problem?

Thanks

WHich one? May or may not affect the CH.

Make sure the CW header tank for the CH has water in it now. NB feed pipes into the CH system can block...
If you have an air lock in the boiler look at high points to let air out. Typically there's a bleed point on the pipes which go into the HW cylinder.

It probably is just air in the system.

Try turning to pump speed up to "3" and stop/start it for 10 secs at a time, that might clear it.

There may also be manual bleed screws near the cylinder or above the boiler.
