thoughts on this house collapse?

Eastney is some distance from Fratton so no connection between the April sink hole & the December collapse.
There's no news media mention of a basement being involved in the Eastney collapse.
See Post #8 for further house details - no mention of a basement.
A basement was involved with a Chelsea collapse in 2020, & in another, more recent, London collapse.

The clever posting of House Price Histories shows that the house in question had had a knock-thro, the stairwell moved, flimsey non-supporting stairs installed, & the central chimney breast missing.

1.8 miles isn't that far when you are talking about similar geology! ;)

Agreed, I haven't seen any evidence of basements in similar listings along that road.

Yes, it has been "opened up a bit", but that is no.23 - the house nextdoor. The worst off house is no.25. It still could mean that their tinkering could have caused the party wall to give and cause more damage to no.25. Or work has taken place since.

Hopefully the cause will become known before long.
