Just wondering if you can tile onto bare wood? I have built a vanity unit for my counter top basin, timber frame and plasterboard which will be fully tiled. I have made a recess in the front of the unit roughly the same width as the sink for storage. The unit is entirely plasterboarded with the exception of inside the recess. If I can, I’d like to tile straight onto the timber frame without boarding first but I’m not sure if the adhesive will bond to the wood? I was thinking maybe if I undercoated it first? Any advice would be much appreciated

Short answer, no. If you can, get hold of 6mm Hardiebacker board and cut the pieces to size. Screw them down and then tile. Tiling straight to timber will crack.
