Hi
i have just been offered a job tiling a bath with a shower attachement. The problem is the wall around the bath is emulsioned. I remember being told by someone from Bal that as emulsion is water based, you should not tile on to it in any area that might get wet.... has anyone any advice on how I should proceed?.. Should i get the emulsion off first? if so how?... is tanking over it an option?... I have a feeling that the extra cost of tanking would be too expensive for the customer... any advice would be appreciated

Ta!

I can't speak for all tanking products but BAL do not recommend using their tanking system on paint.
It's generally ok to tile onto gloss paint if it's sound and keyed, but I wouldn't entertain tiling onto emulsion. It needs scraping/sanding off I'm afraid.
