I have recently removed glass panels windows (fanlight) above my bathroom door. This was done by plaster boarding inside the frame to the window.

As i wish to tile the bathroom there is now a few millimetres recess from plastboard to original plaster on the walls.

My question is what would be best. Apply a piece of ply or similer over the plasterboard to make it near to flush with existing plaster

OR

Can i put extra thick adhesive to the back of tile.

Thanks in advance

I would use 3mm plywood unless you can get away with 6mm thickness
