Hey Bob its fine to tile direct onto plasterboard. I'm guessing its new plasterboard panels? these should give a flat enough surface to tile directly onto. Plasterboard can suck the moisture out of your tile adhesive making the tiles drop of so give any new plasterboard a quick wash over with some diluted PVA to seal the surface the you should be good to go!.
