Time Switch to Hive (Ireland)

That is correct.

As above, swapping common and heating on makes no difference to anything.
All the timer and the new Hive does is connect those two terminals together when heat is required.

You would be strongly advised getting a Registered Electrical Contractor (REC) to do this work.

Hi folks, I am also dealing with the same thermostat as per OP and I'm wondering whether this could mean that both the central heating and hot water of my boiler (Ideal Classic FF250) are wired to start at the same time (3 wires in terminal 1).

What I'm wondering is whether this could mean that I am able to separate out the Hot Water functionality of the boiler to an independent control (ie. a switch). My overall goal is to be able to get a smart thermostat and heat only hot water on demand such as during summer when central heating is not required.

Thanks in advance and apologies for reviving an old thread!
