How important is it to give RSJ's and other steel lintels a layer of anti-corrosion paint before covering with plaster/plasterboard? If I should give it a lick of paint, what sort of paint should I use?

Many thanks

We usualy supply steelwork in shotblasted and primer finish. Most builders seem to leave it like that. So maybe its worth just picking up a can of eiter red or grey metal primer.

A lot of beam/columns are painted for building regs(ie,NHBC etc).maybe just be worth it for peace of mind for maybe a future sale of the house, clutching at straws really but someone on here will be able to help you out.
