we have 2 downstairs toilets, last few days the level in the cloakroom one has dropped very low, about 4 days later the onsuite bathroom started to stink - im not sure where the smell is coming from, the toilets all flush fine and nothing appears to be blocked. the onsuite is not near the cloakroom toilet either.
another queery - can you remove the plastic push fit fittings and if so how do you undo them (to replace taps in sink in kitchen)

The water in the toilet provides an air seal between your house and the drains. You need to find out why you are losing it. You don't have a big dog that might be drinking it do you?
About the plastic fittings. It depends what type they are. More info or preferably a pic please.

I Have no idea why it has just suddenly started to lose its level of water, its been fine for the past three years....... the same goes for the on-suite toilet its been fine for last 3 years but just suddenly the whole bathroom stinks real bad even though the toilet flushes correct and doesnt appear to be blocked, same for the bath and sink - the water runs away no problem, im just confussed why the sudden smell and where its coming from as the water level in bathroom that smells is fine.

Has anyone been playing around with your soil and vent pipes?
Someone been working on the drains?
Perhaps someone has blocked a vent or fitted an air admittance valve where they shouldn't. Perhaps one has stopped working properly?
Have you lifted a manhole cover to make sure they are not blocked.
Wind can cause traps to unseal but not all of a sudden if its never happened before.
If none of this helps it may be time to set up a BOG CAM. Don't forget to stick a sign up saying the toilet is out of use as everyone might think you are a perv. ;)

Have checked main drain on our property and all seems to be working fine and no obvious blockage.
When both toilets flushed they ran fine into drain and the only work done on the main sewer was last year when the main sewer collapsed and it took about 6 months for water board to get it sorted.

The smell coming into the onsuite is disgusting - the toilet level is fine on that toilet - the only problem is the smell which has just appeared.

No work has been done on houses either side of me, the only thing was that we had strong winds tues with heavy rain. but if that was the case surely the smell would have started straight away if it was the wind.

No work has been done on any of the toilets and thats why im so confused, i can live with the water level being low in one toilet but the smell in the other is real bad ( could always blame the wife lol).
