Hi All,

Have a tricity bendix dishwasher model TDF222 - suddenly stopped heating the water but will complete a full cycle. Had a look around - it has a water heater on the intake pipe as opposed to an element in the sump - look this off and connected it to 220v briefly - heated up. Then found what looks like a thermostat in the sump - jumped the two wires into this and again no progress. Had a look at some posts here - is there a relay somewhere that needs to be checked. The parts seems to be interchangable with Electrolux models.
Ta in advance.

Ok - took Control unit apart...no obvious solder failures - looking like pcb unit replacement then or new dishwasher!

Worth checking the continuity of the wiring from the board to the element before ordering pcb particually were it flexes at the bottom of the door

Very likely a new pcb is required. But to be certain I would check a couple of things first. The device you shorted out isn't a thermostat it is an NTC & it may have failed. Remove it & check the resistance cold, then pop it into a cup of very hot water. You should read a very high resistance cold (kohms) but it should drop rapidly when warmed. If it doesn't replace it. Another thing to check is the wiring, especially at the pivot point at the door. The only other thing that could cause a no-heat issue is a defective pressostat but this is very unlikely. If the wiring & NTC check out ok then you need a new pcb (unless you can source & fit a new heater relay).

I'm not that familiar with resistance/ohms etc but tried that NTC unit on an ohmeter today cold and meter moved to 5 ohms - did not try it hot - will check tomorrow. Thanks again

If it measures 5 Ω cold it's busted. Are you sure it isn't 5k Ω ?

Hi zipper after last post put PCB back into the dishwasher and low and behold the dishwasher started heating the water again! So maybe a dodgy soldering that I did not spot or faulty connection. Has gone through 3 washes now and no probs. Will probably act up again, and I will check the continuity of the NYC. Thanks again for all the advice.
