I have had some bad leaks via a wooden window frame in the kitchen. I think the issue is that the frame sits proud of the exterior wall and as it opens at the top, the hinges and trickle vent and so on allow water in. Moving it isnt currently an option so i aim to fill in the trickle vent (its a big kitchen with extractor fans and a trickle vent on another, properly fitted window) and then basically fit a piece of wood as snugly as i can at the top of the above the hinges to stop water sitting and penetrating there. its a bodge but all i can see to do at this point.
so is it such a big deal to block the trickle vent?
thanks for any advice.
