My hubby has just fitted thermostatic radiator valves to our radiators but although the boiler is working there is no heat. The valve are reversable flow type and we have checked they are all open. The system is gravity fed and was working before the trv were fitted. Have we missed something stupid??

please help cos its freezing!!!!!

System refilled, rads bled :?: Could be an airlock.
Is it gravity only or fully pumped

was hoping for some friendly advice have shivering toddler here at the moment - was hoping not to have to farm them out to their granny for the night!!!

any advice greatfully recieved

baxi back boiler (behind the fire) and 6 radiators (5 of which have thermo rv's) and big tank and small tank full of water in the loft and copper cylinder also in the loft.

Thanks

Can only be an airlock somewhere wether the heating is pumped or gravity, if it worked before it should work again, are you sure that there isn't a pump for the heating hidden anywhere ?

pump prob boxed in the side of chimney breast or under floorboard,
find it and bang it
(swat i do)

trooper your horse is in next doors garden eating the roses
pump will prob be under the floor near the boiler :) look for several boards cut out or follow the wire from the clock
then post back and we will sort it out if we can :)

OOH Kev

As the system was fine prior to fitting of trvs and you have refilled and bled rads yes?, I would go for the airlock.
Try turning off your rads and then starting from the nearest one to your cylinder turn each back on one by one.
If this does not do the trick suggest you employ plumber to clear airlock with mains pressure or bleed the pump if you have one :)

Thankyou everyone. We re-drained the system today and refilled... It works! must have been an airlock as you said - warm home now

thanks for all your help
