Twyfords Toilet: I cannot remove lid from tank to replace flush button.

I have a Twyford's toilet. The flush is destroyed and I thought I would replace it. I have found the correct part here.

However, I've no idea how to actually remove the lid. My impression from the Siamp Skipper 45 button (see the image above) is that the new flush needs to be inserted through the hole in the toilet lid and protrude slightly into the tank. Yet the lid is affixed to the tank so the tank cannot be detached.

Here is a photo of the flush button space (with the destroyed flush button removed).

I would appreciate any advice! Thanks.

Unscrew the whole button and holder from the top of the cistern, chances are it screws into the top of the flush valve

Yes, you are correct. Just needed to unscrew the chrome ring. Thanks. Why didn't I think of that?!
