Need a new roof, so have started getting a few quotes.

One quote suggests Marley 387mmx229mm fully interlocking concrete tiles.

Another quotes Eternit Thrutone 600x300mm (smooth surface and square edge) blue/black man-made fibre cement roof tiles with copper nails and Ino.copper disc rivet.

I would be grateful for any comment or any good or bad points to consider when deciding on the type of roof to have installed.

one roof material is considerably heavier than t'other. make sure your roof construction is suitable for the added weight.

there may also be planning restrictions governing like for like roof coverings.

e.g. if you live in a conservation area or if the building is listed.

If the new roof covering increases the weight by more than fifteen percent then roof structure will need strengthening. (Building Regs)
