Unblocking drains

Hello all , to the side of my house there is an area for carparking that is roughish tarmac , my problem is there are two drain within 2m of each other that are blocked , my question is that i would like to rod them and would like to know wether its feasable to plunger or can i get rods round the trap part of the open drain and push rods down to clear ? many thanks . howy

If they are u - trapped you won.t get rods down them. I suggest they are probably blocked with silt and leaf mold.....you need a jetter to clear them and that is a profesional job, i have seen people try to use their Karchers.....don't bother, it's water flow rate not pressure that blows/clears blockages. Try to remove all obstructions in each trap by hand (thick rubber gloves.....never know whats down there) then bale out water. You could possibly then try to dig out the gully traps and that might allow you to get rods into the line but it could be more hassle than anything......if you go profesional expect 200 ish pounds. Oh, are you sure they run to a drain and are not soakaways?? if they are soakaways DON"T jet them. Dig a new one and relay pipe to it. Again....profesional job really
 
Thanks powell30 , i think you summed that up nicely , one thing how would i know if its a soakaway or not also a problem is that it seems to be a unadopted road as no one wants to take responsability so the cost to dig up i guess would be loads ... cheers Howy
